June 10, 2013 - Ottawa - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird (right) and the Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of International Cooperation (left), welcome Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group, to Parliament Hill.

President Kim’s visit included a meeting with the Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, to discuss their common focus on creating jobs, growth and long-term prosperity. President Kim also attended a luncheon hosted by Minister Baird, Minister Fantino and the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway.

Canada is a founding member of the World Bank Group. Canada is the seventh-largest shareholder in the World Bank Group and has been a leading voice in ensuring that the World Bank and other international agencies achieve real results. This is especially important given the fragile state of the global economy. The World Bank consistently ranks among the most effective and efficient partners for delivering Canada’s international assistance to those who need it around the world.
