Baird Meets Japan's Foreign Minister

July 1, 2013 - Bandar Seri Begawan - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird meets Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Fumio Kishida.

Canada-Japan relations are underpinned by political, economic and cultural ties that are bolstered by common values and mutual positive perceptions.

Today, Canada and Japan are partners in numerous international groups and organizations, including the G-8, the G-20, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations Regional Forum, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. Both Canada and Japan are strongly committed to ensuring continued economic vitality, cooperative political relations, and development in the Asia-Pacific region.

The meeting was part of Baird’s trip to Asia to expand Canada’s ties with Asian powerhouses, project Canadian values and diversify Canada’s trade relations in the Asia-Pacific region.
