Minister Fast Welcomes Manufacturing Export Win

Ontario manufacturing sector workers to benefit from export

August 8, 2014 - Ottawa, Ontario - Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada

The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, today announced the signing of a $30-million contract for the sale of 6K low-profile shipboard-use forklifts by Manitex Liftking to the United States Department of Defense.

The sale was facilitated by the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), the Government of Canada’s international government-to-government contracting organization.

The contract was awarded under the Defence Production Sharing Agreement between Canada and the United States of America.

  • Over the past 55 years, Canada’s Defence Production Sharing Agreement contracts have totalled more than $30 billion.
  • In 2012-13, CCC contracted Canadian goods and services worth over $577 million through the Defence Production Sharing Agreement.
  • CCC is a Crown corporation that reports to Parliament through the Minister of International Trade.
