Minister Menzies Promotes Canada as Top Destination for Investment During Calgary Stampede

July 4, 2013 - Calgary, Alberta – The Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State (Finance), on behalf of the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, highlighted Canada’s strengths as an investment destination at the Invest in Canada Investment Seminar: Canada, Energy and Innovation – Targeting Sustainability and Growth.  The event sponsored by the government of Canada and Alberta was held during the Calgary Stampede.

Minister Menzies joined Alison Redford, Premier of Alberta, at this investment event.

In his remarks, the Minister emphasized the government’s top priority of job growth and long-term prosperity and highlighted Canada’s winning formula that includes low taxes, a highly skilled work force and a strong commitment to free and open trade.

“One in ten jobs in Canada are linked to foreign investment creating jobs and prosperity for Canadian businesses, workers and their families,” said Minister Menzies.  

Minister Menzies also applauded the Keystone XL project, which will contribute to energy security in Canada and the United States and the creation of thousands of construction and manufacturing jobs on both sides of the border.
