Minister Fast Visits New Home of LaSalle International Academy in Istanbul

August 26, 2013 - Istanbul, Turkey - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, visits the new building that will be home to LaSalle International Academy starting this September.
A true Canadian success story, LaSalle International Academy has operated a school of clothing design and textile merchandising in Istanbul since 1993, training hundreds of young students in computer-aided design and manufacturing. The institution has a reputation for attracting international students and preparing them for employment in today’s competitive global job market. The new building in downtown Istanbul will accommodate 500 students.
LaSalle International Academy is one of Montréal-based LaSalle College’s 18 international establishments. LaSalle College has become Canada’s most internationally widespread educational institution.
Canadian universities are eager to develop partnerships with their Turkish counterparts. More than 20 Canadian universities will be in Istanbul on September 9, 2013, to participate in the Canada-Turkey Collaboration and Exchanges in Education round table. At least 20 of Turkey’s top universities have confirmed their participation.
Minister Fast is on a five-day visit to Kuwait, Turkey and Saudi Arabia to advance the interests of Canadian businesses in those countries.
