December 1, 2013 - New Delhi, India - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), launches this year’s Indo-Canadian Business Chamber (ICBC) brochure. Increased business linkages are key to growing the relationship between Canada and India, and groups like the ICBC make an important contribution to establishing those ties.
Minister Yelich said that the work of the ICBC in advocating for a comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA) and the early conclusion of other framework agreements, such as the Canada-India foreign investment promotion and protection agreement, helps support the economic and development goals of both Canada and India.
India is a priority market for the Harper government under its Global Markets Action Plan. Canada is pursuing deeper trade and investment ties with India in numerous ways, including through a comprehensive Canada-India trade agreement.
The Indo-Canadian Business Chamber was established in 1994 and is the only India-based business chamber working to facilitate Indo-Canadian trade and investment.
