Minister Fast Introduces Canadian Companies to Chinese Sustainable Technologies Leader

May 23, 2014 - Shenzhen, China - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, Wai Young, Member of Parliament for Vancouver South, and Denis L’Heureux, Chief Representative for Greater China with Export Development Canada (EDC), introduce Canadian trade mission delegates from small and medium-sized enterprises in the sustainable technologies sector to China Everbright International executives, including CEO Chen Xiaoping and Deputy General Manager Chen Tao, in Shenzhen.

China Everbright International and EDC signed an agreement in January 2012 for EDC to provide up to US$10 million in financing for the Chinese company to source environmental technologies, products or services from Canada.

EDC has permanent representations in Shanghai and Beijing. In 2011, 560 Canadian companies used EDC products and services to help undertake more than $8.5 billion in trade with the Chinese market.

Minister Fast is leading a trade mission to Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Hong Kong from May 18 to 24, 2014, to deepen Canada’s commercial relationships with China.
