Royal Star Foods, located in Tignish, is an innovative processor of Atlantic lobsters in various forms for both retail and food service sales. The company is a subsidiary of Tignish Fisheries Co-op Association Ltd. and proudly employs upward of 300 workers. Built in 1996, its facility is one of the largest and most modern seafood-processing plants in eastern Canada. Royal Star Foods is also the oldest seafood-processing facility in the country and the largest Atlantic lobster processor in P.E.I. Its brand, Star of the Sea, is sold worldwide.

Last May, representatives from Royal Star Foods Ltd. accompanied Minister Fast on a trade mission to the Seafood Expo Global 2014 in Brussels.

Minister Fast is on a visit to Prince Edward Island to meet with representatives of Canadian companies and local governments to discuss how they will benefit from opportunities created by the Canada-Korea and Canada-EU trade agreements.

Fish and seafood is a priority sector under Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan, the blueprint for creating jobs and opportunities for hard-working Canadians through trade.
