Minister Paradis in Montréal to Discuss Canada’s Development Agenda

August 12, 2014 – The Honourable Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and La Francophonie, will be in Montréal to engage Quebec actors in Canada’s development priorities.

Minister Paradis will meet with members of the Haitian community to discuss the challenges that Haiti faces in creating the conditions necessary for sustainable economic growth and private sector development, as well as the role of the Haitian diaspora in Haiti’s development.

Minister Paradis will also meet with NGOs and civil society organizations from Quebec to discuss current priorities in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) following the May 2014 Saving Every Woman, Every Child summit. 

Following the round table discussions, Minister Paradis will make an announcement regarding new funding for development projects in Haiti.

While in Montréal, Minister Paradis will also meet with representatives of the Quebec private sector as well as civil society organizations on promoting efforts to stimulate private sector-led growth and fight poverty in developing Francophonie countries.
