Minister Fantino condemns cowardly car bombing in internally displaced persons camp in Pakistan
March 22, 2013
The Honourable Julian Fantino, Minister of International Cooperation, condemns a cowardly and senseless car bombing that killed at least 12 people in a camp for internally displaced persons in Pakistan.
"There is no excuse for this senseless attack on innocent civilians as they stood in line to get food. These people are trying to escape conflict.
"I am further saddened to learn that humanitarian workers are among the injured. These courageous people face grave risks in their daily efforts to assist those affected by humanitarian crises in Pakistan and elsewhere.
"I urge Pakistani authorities to seek out and bring to justice the people responsible for this despicable act. My deepest sympathies go out to the families of those killed and injured."
