Canada Condemns Mosque Attack in Pakistan

September 20, 2013 - Andrew Bennett, Canada’s Ambassador for Religious Freedom, today issued the following statement:

“Canada strongly condemns today’s terrorist attack on worshippers at a Sufi mosque in Pakistan, which left 3 people dead and 20 wounded. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those killed and injured.

“We are deeply concerned by the violent disregard of extremists in Pakistan for the right of all religious communities to practise their faith in peace and security. This was an act of cowardly violence that brutally targeted innocent human beings.

“Canada will continue to condemn the lack of religious tolerance in Pakistan and all attacks on places of worship. We call for an immediate investigation into this attack and the prosecution of those responsible.”
