Ambassador Bennett Meets with Jehovah’s Witnesses

March18, 2013 - Astana - Andrew Bennett, Canada’s Ambassador of Religious Freedom, meets with Yuriy Toporov, a Kazakhstani lawyer and Jehovah’s Witness, and Shane Brady, a Canadian lawyer and Jehovah’s Witness, to discuss the discrimination faced by Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and other countries in Central Asia. In support of freedom of religion, Canadian embassy officials in Kazakhstan have been present as observers at various court hearings over the past year in which Jehovah’s Witnesses have been brought forth on charges of illegal missionary activity.
