Minister of State Ablonczy to Participate in 10th Anniversary Commemoration of Signing of Inter-American Democratic Charter

(No. A/66 - September 4, 2011) The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), will represent Canada at an event in Valparaíso, Chile, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. This visit underscores the importance that Canada attaches to strengthening democracy in the Americas. This is a key element of the Government of Canada’s Americas strategy, whose focus includes increasing economic prosperity and advancing our common security. These are common goals that emphasize Canada’s solidarity with Chile and the Americas.
