Minister of State Kent to Engage Caribbean Partners

(No. 292 - September 15, 2010 - 9:15 a.m. ET) The Honourable Peter Kent, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas), will visit Barbados and Saint Lucia from September 15 to 17, 2010, as part of Canada’s foreign-policy priority of deepening engagement in the Americas.

“This trip provides a valuable opportunity to reinforce Canada’s engagement with two important partners in the Caribbean,” said Minister of State Kent. 

Minister of State Kent will meet with senior government officials in both countries. In Saint Lucia, he will also meet with the Secretariat of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. In Barbados, he will meet members of the academic community and deliver a speech on Canada’s Americas Strategy at the University of the West Indies.

“By strengthening relationships and working with countries such as Barbados and Saint Lucia, Canada continues to advance prosperity, security and democratic governance throughout the hemisphere.”
