Minister of State Ablonczy Attends Guatemalan Presidential Inauguration

January 14, 2012 - The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), today attended the inauguration of Otto Pérez Molina as Guatemala’s president.

“Canada values its relationship with Guatemala,” said Minister of State Ablonczy. “I look forward to working with the new Guatemalan administration, especially in the context of Canada’s engagement on the issue of security in Central America.”

Canada maintains strong diplomatic ties with Guatemala and is actively engaged on a wide range of issues there, including human rights protection, trade and investment, corporate social responsibility, and efforts to improve the delivery of security and justice in the country.
