Canada’s International Travel Website Wins GTEC Award
October 9, 2013 - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular) today welcomed the announcement that Travel.gc.ca, Canada’s official “one-stop shop” for online international travel information, has received the Government Technology Exhibition and Conference (GTEC) Award for Excellence in Public Service Delivery.
“The relaunch of Travel.gc.ca is an essential part of our government’s commitment to providing Canadians with the tools and resources they need to make safe and smart decisions when travelling abroad,” said Minister of State Yelich.
The expansion, redesign and relaunch of Travel.gc.ca is part of Canada’s new approach to online services and accessibility. The project involved integrating regularly updated content and resources from 12 government partners to help Canadians easily and efficiently find the information they need to make responsible and informed decisions about international travel.
Travel.gc.ca is managed by Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada in collaboration with the Canada Border Services Agency, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Environment Canada, Health Canada, Passport Canada, the Public Health Agency of Canada, Public Safety Canada and Transport Canada.
The GTEC award recognizes outstanding achievements by the Government of Canada in implementing information management and technology. The award is part of an annual conference that showcases technologies and services, with a focus on the public sector.
