Canada Offers Sympathies Following Supermarket Roof Collapse in Latvia

November 22, 2013 - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), today issued the following statement concerning the collapse of a supermarket roof in Riga, which resulted in dozens of deaths and injuries:

“On behalf of all Canadians, I offer my deepest sympathies to the Latvian people after this tragic accident,” said Minister of State Yelich. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.”
