January 23, 2013 - Bangkok - The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), visits Khaosan Road, one of Bangkok’s most famous streets and a central destination for backpackers and budget travellers looking for accommodations.
In 2011, Thailand was the fifth most popular Asian destination among Canadian travellers, with 190,000 Canadians visiting that year. In addition, an estimated 5,800 Canadians reside in Thailand. In 2011, Canadian consular officials in Thailand issued more than 1,700 Canadian passports.
