Minister Yelich Visits Kyrgyz Republic

May 20, 2014 - Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), visits the Kyrgyz Republic, where she met with Prime Minister Joomart Otorbayev (top), Deputy Foreign Minister Erines Otorbayev (middle), and Director of State Commission on Religious Affairs Orozbek Moldaliev (bottom).

During the meetings, Minister Yelich affirmed Canada’s support for the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic’s efforts to build a stable, inclusive, prosperous and democratic country based on respect for human rights, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law. She also advanced economic opportunities for Canada in the region, particularly in the mining sector.

During her visit, Minister Yelich also met with representatives of the University of Central Asia and of the Aga Khan Development Network, and discussed Canada’s contribution to the organizations’ programming in the Kyrgyz Republic.
