Minister Yelich Moderates Youth Dialogue on Ending Child Marriage

November 19, 2014 – Toronto, Ontario - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular) participates in an interactive dialogue on child, early and forced marriage hosted by Plan Canada.

(From left) Her Royal Highness Princess Mabel van Oranje, Chair of Girls Not Brides, Dr. Ashok Dyalchand, Institute for Health Management Pachod, Ms. Amina Hanga, Isa Wali Empowerment Initiative, Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular) and 40 young Canadian women discussed the importance of ending child and forced marriages during a live social media event in Toronto.

“Canada has made ending child, early and forced marriage a foreign policy and development priority,” said Minister Yelich. “This harmful practice threatens the lives and futures of girls and young women around the world.”
