Minister Yelich Participates in Round Table with Canadian Companies Active in Uruguay

February 28, 2015 - Montevideo, Uruguay - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), meets with executives from Canadian companies active in Uruguay to discuss opportunities for doing business in this South American country.

Uruguay is identified as an emerging priority market in Canada’s Global Markets Action Plan. In 2014, bilateral merchandise trade between Canada and Uruguay totalled $163 million, up nearly 34 percent over the year before. Canada views increased engagement through commercial ties as one of the best ways to support positive change and sustainable economic growth in the Americas.

Minister Yelich is visiting Uruguay from February 27 to March 1, 2015, where she will represent Canada at the inauguration of president-elect Tabaré Vázquez.
