Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada is committed to respecting the privacy rights of individuals who visit our websites and take part in online program activities. Participation in our online Media Room publication application (email notification service) is voluntary and you can opt out or cancel your subscription at any time. You should know that the data gathered on the subscription pages is being collected for the sole purpose of facilitating access to and distribution of departmental statements, speeches, media advisories and news releases as well as to improve our services. The data will not be used for other purposes (for example, follow-up research/surveys) without first obtaining your explicit consent. Personal information will be protected under the provisions of the Privacy Act and stored in the Personal Information Bank entitled "Public Communications PSU 904." Data in this bank will be held within the departmental Communications Bureau and retained for the duration of your subscriptions with us and then one year from the time you unsubscribe to the notification service.
