Release of Fourth Quarterly Report on Canada’s Engagement in Afghanistan

On Wednesday, June 3, 2009, the Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway and Chair of Canada’s Cabinet Committee on Afghanistan, will provide an overview of the Government of Canada’s fourth quarterly report on Canada’s engagement in Afghanistan.

Minister Day will be joined by a senior RCMP official who will speak about the role of Canadian police as they help mentor and train the Afghan National Police to bring lasting security to Afghanistan.

A background technical briefing with senior representatives from the Afghanistan Task Force, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada, the Canadian International Development Agency and the Department of National Defence will take place in advance of the Minister’s availability.
