The Honourable Stockwell Day, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, will travel to Singapore to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade. The meeting is being held from July 21 to 22, 2009.
The Asia Pacific region is a priority for the Government of Canada. Minister Day will use the APEC Meeting as an opportunity to highlight the need to avoid protectionism, to promote Canada as a great place to invest, and to promote the Asia-Pacific Gateway as a fast and efficient way to reach the North American market.
While in Singapore, the Minister will present Canada as an investment partner of choice with a keynote address to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, and promote the Asia-Pacific Gateway to the Singapore transport sector.
Minister Day will then promote Canada’s high-quality products and services in Malaysia and Brunei from July 23 to 25. He will also visit successful Canadian companies in the region.
