The Canadian Banking System: Learn About Its Gold-Medal Performance!
(No. A/29 - February 15, 2010) For two years in a row, the World Economic Forum has named the Canadian banking system the soundest in the world. The International Monetary Fund and international media have also recognized the system’s solid performance through the global economic downturn. Despite the economic turmoil that saw the collapse of numerous financial institutions, no Canadian banks failed or required costly bailouts.
The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade, invites you to learn about the continuing strength of the Canadian banking sector. He will be joined, via videoconference, by featured speaker Gordon M. Nixon, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Bank of Canada.
