(No. 310 - September 23, 2010 - 3:50 p.m. ET) The Honourable Peter Van Loan, Minister of International Trade, today announced the reappointment of Ken Sunquist to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC).
“Mr. Sunquist’s impressive career as one of Canada’s top trade officials provides the Board with tremendous insight into international commerce,” said Minister Van Loan. “I am pleased that he has agreed to continue serving Canada and contributing to the success of CCC in opening doors for Canadian exporters abroad.”
Mr. Sunquist joined Canada’s Trade Commissioner Service in 1973. His assignments abroad included Kingston, Belgrade, San Francisco, Seoul and Beijing. He also served as ambassador to Indonesia. At Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada’s Ottawa headquarters, he held the position of assistant deputy minister of, first, the World Markets Branch, and, then, of global operations. In September 2008, he was appointed assistant deputy minister, Asia and Africa, and chief trade commissioner.
Mr. Sunquist was first appointed to the Board of Directors of CCC in May of 2004.
As Canada’s international contracting agency for over 60 years, CCC has assisted thousands of Canadian exporters by working closely with foreign government buyers. It supports companies contracting in the defence sector and in emerging and developing markets.
CCC reports to Parliament through the Minister of International Trade.
