Minister Fast Announces Appointments to Canadian Commercial Corporation

June 14, 2013 - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today announced the appointment of Dwayne Lucas to the Board of Directors of the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and the extension of Marc Whittingham’s term as president of CCC.

“Our government is focused on what matters to Canadians—jobs, growth and long-term prosperity,” said Minister Fast. “The Canadian Commercial Corporation has an important role to play in helping Canadian firms, including those in defence and security, expand their operations around the globe.”

Mr. Whittingham’s current term will extend beyond September until a successor is appointed. New board member Dwayne Lucas joins CCC for three years.

“I am pleased that Mr. Lucas has joined the board and that Mr. Whittingham has agreed remain at the helm until new leadership is found,” said Minister Fast. “The broad and deep experience these two business leaders bring to CCC will ensure that it continues to help Canadian firms grow and prosper.”

Established in 1946, CCC connects foreign government buyers with Canadian expertise through the negotiation and execution of government-to-government contracts. The corporation focuses on areas where there is a clear role for government, such as defence and security.

CCC reports to Parliament through the Minister of International Trade.
