Minister Fast at TELUS Corporation construction site

March 30, 2012, Vancouver The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, today spoke with workers at a TELUS Corporation construction site about how Economic Action Plan 2012 is tackling labour shortages in skilled trades and how the plan will benefit them.

Minister Fast highlighted new initiatives that will help ensure that Canada’s labour force has the skills to fill the demands of tomorrow’s economy. Through a combination of skills training for Canadians and a flexible economic immigration system, the government is taking action that will fuel the next wave of job creation and position Canada for a secure and prosperous future.
