Minister Fast attends APEC trade ministers meeting

June 4, 2012 – Kazan, Russia - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, participates in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in Kazan, Russia. At the APEC meeting, the Minister is highlighting Canada’s strong commitment to supporting freer and more open trade and reiterating Canada’s belief that protectionism is toxic to global recovery efforts.

In his first year as trade minister, Minister Fast has now led trade missions to all of the “BRIC” countries—Brazil, Russia, India and China. BRIC countries are recognized for their tremendous growth potential and as countries that need Canadian products, services, skills and expertise.
