International Trade Minister Ed Fast Meets with Co-Chair of Canada-Russia Intergovernmental Economic Commission

Minister Fast with Arcady Dvorkovich

June 7, 2012 – Moscow, Russia - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, meets with Arcady Dvorkovich, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and newly appointed co-chair of the Canada-Russia Intergovernmental Economic Commission (IEC).

The IEC, which Minister Fast also co-chairs, is a key forum for Canada-Russia commercial and economic cooperation. Since last year’s IEC meeting in Ottawa, the two countries have launched several projects in agriculture, started negotiations toward a bilateral space cooperation treaty and explored opportunities under a science and technology cooperation statement. The next IEC session will be held in Moscow in 2013.

Minister Fast is leading a trade mission in Russia that includes representatives of nearly 30 companies.
