Canadian Investment Creating Prosperity in Canada and Vietnam

August 28, 2012 - Ho Chí Minh City, Vietnam - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, welcomes the announcement by Canadian manufacturing company Metacor International Inc of a $15-million investment in Vietnam as part of their international growth strategy, which is creating jobs in both Canada and Vietnam.

Minister Fast met with Metacor senior executives in Ho Chí Minh City. They outlined how Metacor’s investment in a new factory in Vietnam will help supply the company’s facilities in Canada. Minister Fast also discussed how concluding a high-quality foreign investment promotion and protection agreement (FIPA) between Canada and Vietnam will provide investors like Metacor and other small- and medium-sized businesses with a more stable and predictable investment environment. A FIPA with Vietnam is a high priority for Canada; the ninth round of FIPA negotiations will be held in Hanoi from August 29 to 31, 2012.
