Minister Ablonczy Honours Canadian Forces Personnel at Remembrance Day Ceremony in Peru

November 11, 2012 - Lima, Peru - The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs) honours Canadian Forces personnel past and present by laying a wreath at the Iglesia Catedral del Buen Pastor cenotaph. Minister Ablonczy was joined at the Remembrance Day ceremony by Military Police Warrant Officer Roger Marcinowski of Edmonton and Military Police Master Corporal Jason Moldovan of Montréal. Both are Afghanistan combat veterans.

Minister Ablonczy is in Latin America leading a Canadian trade mission to Peru, Colombia and Panama.

This year Canadian Forces personnel have participated in exercises with the Peruvian armed forces, including Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2012, the world’s largest multinational maritime exercise, which was conducted in the Hawaiian Islands, and PANAMAX 2012, a multinational exercise that simulated an armed defence of the Panama Canal.
