A Canadian Success Story: Teck Resources Opens New Office in China

April 16, 2013 - Beijing, China - The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade and Minister for the Asia-Pacific Gateway, congratulates Ralph Lutes,  Teck Resources Ltd.’s Vice President Asian Affairs and Chief Representative in China, on the company’s 100th anniversary and on the opening of its new office in Shanghai. In 2012, China accounted for over 25 percent of Teck’s total revenues and became its biggest market.    

Teck, based in Vancouver, is Canada’s largest diversified-resource company. Teck is committed to responsible mining and mineral development and focuses on copper, steelmaking coal, zinc and energy.

Minister Fast is on a two-week visit to Asia that includes stops in the cities of Tokyo, Yokohama, Hong Kong, Beijing, Harbin and Tianjin before he attends the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Ministers Responsible for Trade meeting in Indonesia.
