(October 11, 2011) The Honourable Diane Ablonczy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), is undertaking an outreach tour to Montreal, Fredericton and Halifax from October 11 to 14, 2011, to exchange views on issues pertaining to consular affairs and to advance Canada’s priorities in the Americas.
"Last year, 56 million Canadians made visits outside the country. With so many Canadians travelling abroad, it is important that they understand what consular services are and are not available to them before they go," said Minister of State Ablonczy. "This tour is an opportunity to expand our dialogue with key partners to discuss this important consular information. Our common goal is to help Canadians travel safely."
