Diane Ablonzcy, Minister of State of Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs), attends the inauguration of Peru’s new president, Ollanta Humala, in Lima. Canada’s presence at this inauguration demonstrates the importance of its engagement with Latin America and confirms Canada’s commitment to its bilateral, commercial and political relationships with Peru. During her visit, Minister of State Ablonczy plans to meet with Peruvian officials, creating links with the new administration and advancing Canada’s growing investment interest in Peru.

Peru, a key partner for Canada under the Americas Strategy, is also a  country of focus for the Canadian International Development Agency. It is a key member of a group of Latin American countries building a democratic, free-market model for the region.
