John Baird, Canada’s Foreign Affairs Minister, meets with his U.S. counterpart, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, on August 4, 2011, in Washington, D.C.
This is the first formal bilateral meeting between Minister Baird and Secretary Clinton. They discussed a number of issues important to the Canada-U.S. relationship and held a joint media availability following their meeting. Canada and the United States enjoy one of the most successful bilateral relationships in the world. This relationship is a top priority for the Harper government, which recently received a strong mandate from Canadians to focus on the economy, create jobs and ensure that Canada’s economic recovery continues.
