Biography

Deepak Obhrai was first elected to the House of Commons in 1997 and re-elected in 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011. He was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in February 2006 and continues to serve in this role. 

In addition, he has also served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Cooperation.

He is a past president of the India-Canada Association, the Monterey Community Association and the Hindu Society of Calgary, as well as the Vice-President of the National Indo/Canadian Council.Mr. Obhrai and his wife, Neena, have three children.
