The National Holocaust Monument Act is the result of the initiative of Member of Parliament Tim Uppal, who introduced a Private Member’s Bill during the 41st session of Parliament. Mr. Uppal, Minister of State (Democratic Reform), will now be passing the torch to Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister responsible for the National Capital Act, John Baird.
Minister Baird, in close cooperation with the National Capital Commission, the Minister of Canadian Heritage and the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism, will oversee the planning, construction and maintenance of the National Holocaust Monument.
