Exploratory Discussions towards a Canada-Turkey Free Trade Agreement

Following initial informal meetings and public consultations, officials from Canada and Turkey met in October 2010 in Ankara for formal exploratory talks. This allowed both sides to gain a better understanding of each other's approaches to free trade negotiations. While there has not been sufficient common ground to pursue ambitious and comprehensive free trade negotiations at the time, lines of communication between Canada and Turkey remain open.
