Final Environmental Assessment of the Canada-Honduras Free Trade Agreement Negotiations

The Government of Canada has negotiated a free trade agreement (FTA) with Honduras. Further to the notice of intent to conduct a strategic environmental assessment and the initial environmental assessment, Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada has completed a final Environmental Assessment of the negotiations.

The Government of Canada is committed to sustainable development. Mutually supportive trade, investment and environmental policies can contribute to this objective. To this end, negotiators endeavour to consider, when appropriate, potential environmental effects of trade negotiations. Strategic environmental assessments of trade negotiations are critical to this work. The purpose of this Final EA Report is to document the outcome of negotiations in relation to the EA process.

Strategic environmental assessments of trade negotiations are prepared pursuant to the 2010 Cabinet Directive on the Environmental Assessment of Policy, Plan, and Program Proposals.

All interested parties are invited to submit their comments on the Final Environmental Assessment of the Canada-Honduras FTA negotiations by Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Comments can be sent by email, fax or mail to:
