Association of Southeast Asian Nations

Overview

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is composed of Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Burma, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

ASEAN was one of the fastest growing economic regions in the world, before being affected by the recent glocal downturn, but continues to be an important gateway and critical access point into Indian and Chinese markets. ASEAN’s growth is being driven by regional integration of economies. Significant opportunities exist for Canadian companies across a number of sectors. Through the Global Commerce Strategy, Canada has targeted agriculture and agri-food, services industries and capital projects, oil and gas, mining, and information and communications technologies as priority sectors in the ASEAN region.
