United Parcel Services of America, Inc. ( UPS ) filed a claim against Canada which alleged that Canada Post Corporation engaged in anti-competitive practices by providing its courier products ( Xpresspost, Priority Courier, and Purolator ) with advantages that were not provided to UPS Canada. In addition UPS alleged that the Canada Border Services Agency provided treatment less favourable to UPS Canada than to Canada Post's courier services.
Since the original claim was filed in April 2000 UPS later filed two amended claims in response to Canada's jurisdictional objections and the Tribunal's Award on Jurisdictional issues.
The hearing on the merits took place from December 12-17, 2005 in Washington D.C.
The arbitration tribunal released their decision to the Parties on June 11, 2007. The decision rejected the claims of UPS as a whole.
