February 19, 2013 - Panama City - Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird tours the Panama Canal Expansion Project and receives a briefing on the construction. The canal expansion, which consists of a new lane and new set of locks, is one of the largest construction projects in the world and is valued at $5.2 billion. The expansion will double the canal’s capacity, and its new lane will be able to accommodate almost all sizes of ships. Canadian infrastructure firms are eager and able to get involved in some of Panama’s major projects.
