The High Commission issues a Statement in lieu of certificate of non-impediment.

To request this statement, please provide the following list of documents to the Consular Section of the High Commission of Canada in Brunei via bsbgn@international.gc.ca:

  • a valid Canadian passport;
  • a certified true copy of a birth certificate (if born in Canada);
  • a certified true copy of a Canadian citizenship certificate (if not born in Canada);
  • a signed / dated statutory declaration on the requester's current marital status, permanent address, contact information and the name/citizenship of future spouse; and
  • a certified true copy of divorce certificate/final judgment of divorce or of the former spouse's death certificate, if previously married.

The High Commission of Canada in Brunei Darussalam is now offering consular services from an alternate location.

Consular officials do not provide any legal advice or represent a person in court. The office provides the following notarial services, by appointment only, to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada.
