Minister of State Yelich Delivers Remarks at Forum on Women’s Economic Empowerment for Peacebuilding
September 26, 2013 - New York City - The Honourable Lynne Yelich, Minister of State (Foreign Affairs and Consular), delivers remarks at a high-level forum on women’s economic empowerment for peacebuilding, held on the margins of the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
“Women face unique challenges in post-conflict contexts, which can affect their ability to support themselves and their families,” said Minister of State Yelich.
This forum builds on the important momentum being generated in other multilateral forums. Canada recently helped to launch the Global Knowledge Gateway for Women’s Economic Empowerment, a new online platform that will support women’s economic opportunities and leadership and further their contributions to local economies.
