Statement by Canada’s head of Mission to India following heavy rain and floods

H.E. Nadir Patel, Canada’s Head of Mission in India, today issued the following statement:

 “Canada offers its deepest condolences to the people of India following the heavy rains and floods which have claimed the lives of several hundred people and displaced thousands of people across six states.

“Our thoughts are with the families of those who have lost their lives.

“Everyone should monitor news reports and follow the advice of local authorities. While there have been no reports of any Canadians being affected at this time, we suggest that Canadian travellers should monitor Global Affairs Canada’s Travel Advice and Advisories.
