Regulations Amending the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations

Whereas the Governor in Council is of the opinion that the actions of the Islamic Republic of Iran constitute a grave breach of international peace and security that has resulted or is likely to result in a serious international crisis;

And whereas the Governor in Council is of the opinion that gross and systematic human rights violations have been committed in the Islamic Republic of Iran;

Therefore, Her Excellency the Governor General in Council, on the recommendation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, makes the annexed Regulations Amending the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations under paragraph 4(1)(a)^a and subsections 4(1.1)^b, (2)^c and (3) of the Special Economic Measures Act^d.

Amendments

1 Part 1.1 of Schedule 1 to the Special Economic Measures (Iran) Regulations¹ is amended by adding the following in numerical order:

18. SATRA (Iranian Audiovisual Media Regulatory Authority)
19. The Working Group for Determining Instances of Criminal Content (WGDICC)
20. Douran Group
21. Yaftar Pazhohan Pishtaz Rayanesh Limited Company
22. Seraj Cyberspace Organization

2 Part 2 of Schedule 1 to the Regulations is amended by adding the following in numerical order:

116. Davoud Moazami Goudarzi
117. Eskandar Momeni (born on January 15, 1962)
118. Rasoul Jalili (born on August 19, 1961)
119. Mohsen Fathizadeh
120. Ruhollah Momen Nasab (born on January 21, 1981)

Application Before Publication

3 For the purpose of paragraph 11(2)(a) of the Statutory Instruments Act, these Regulations apply according to their terms before they are published in the Canada Gazette.

Coming into Force

4 These Regulations come into force on the day on which they are registered.
