Authenticate Canadian documents - If you are outside Canada
Authenticating a document is free. It proves that the signature, the position of an official and the seal on a certified document are genuine. Other jurisdictions or countries will recognize your authenticated document as a valid copy.
Authentication is also called legalization or apostille.

Canadian embassies, high commissions and consulates in foreign countries may not be able to authenticate Canadian documents. Also, foreign authorities may not accept documents that have not been legalized by their embassy or consulate in Canada.
Check with the nearest Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate to see if they can authenticate your documents.
If the Canadian embassy, high commission or consulate is not able to authenticate your documents, you can send your documents to our mail-in service.
