Objectives
The government of Canada finances the Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP). The program provides opportunities for skilled Canadians to deliver Canada’s development cooperation.
The VCP support Canadian organizations to send broad range of volunteers to support communities in the Global South. These volunteers lend their time and expertise.
They may include:
- professionals
- experts
- young leaders
- retired or semi-retired professionals
From 2020 to 2028, the VCP aims to have more than 10,000 volunteer placements to some 40 countries.
Program parameters
The VCP provides targeted technical assistance and reinforces the capacities of local organizations. Volunteers make a difference in a variety of sectors. They also play a key role in engaging Canadians in international development within Canada.
Short and long-term placements, include pre-departure and re-integration training. You can also do e-volunteer placements.
