On this page

Bilateral relations

Canada and the Cayman Islands have a cooperative bilateral relationship, a reflection of the broader historical relationship between Canada and the United Kingdom. As a British Overseas Territory, the Governor, appointed by the Queen, is responsible for defence, foreign affairs, internal security and international finance for the Islands. Canada and the Cayman Islands cooperate within the framework of the Commonwealth.

The Cayman Islands are represented in Canada by the British High Commission in Ottawa and the British Consulates in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver.

Canada is officially represented in the Turks and Caicos by the High Commission of Canada to the United Kingdom, while the High Commission of Canada to Jamaica, in Kingston looks after Canada's trade and consular interests. Canadians in the Cayman Islands can access consular services through the Honorary Consulate of Canada to the Cayman Islands, in George Town.
